Meet THE OWNER
Shaundra
As a florist, I am often with people on the most important days of their lives, from births to marriages, celebrations and special events.
My role is to work behind the scenes and deliver a touch of beauty and sometimes even whimsy so that all of the emotions of the day are reflected in the floral arrangements and displays that my staff and I have lovingly created and shared.
Working in a close-knit community like Waterloo, I am especially aware of the importance of my role.
Sometimes, I am with one family as they go through all of life’s milestones. These customers feel like an extension of my own family.
But even if I am hired for just one event, I might have dozens of interactions with my clients throughout the day, forging new relationships and ties in the community with each point of contact.
The job might start in the early morning with delivery and set up, and continue to the event itself as displays are rotated, bouquets are handed off, boutonnieres are pinned. If needed, I can be there for cleanup too, packing up vases and preserving those arrangements to be kept for sentimental reasons.
My happiest days at work are when I can make someone else beam with joy by creating a flower arrangement or display that perfectly speaks to the moment.
Perhaps that’s by incorporating a handkerchief or charm from a beloved grandparent. Or working in that one hard-to-find flower that reminds my client of a special time and place in their life.
How can I speak to my clients by carefully cutting stems and arranging them just right? What will make this bride cry tears of joy when she sees the bouquet that will accompany her down the aisle?
These are the types of questions I ask, every day, and it’s been that way since I started working at a floral shop over 30 years ago when I was still in high school.
After that first job, a husband and four kids later, I started working out of my home, creating wedding florals and displays. That’s when I began to hone my craft and realized that wedding flowers in particular had my heart.
Then, in 2014, a wonderful business opportunity presented itself when I purchased Bountiful Blossoms. I took the plunge, expanded my offerings — the rest, as they say, is history!
So here I am today, in a job that I love, helping people who are in love. You can’t beat that.
Yes, I am a florist. But to me, my job is about so much more than just the flowers.
It’s about creating memories and evoking emotions. And building relationships.
I look forward to meeting you!
